Alice E. Backer joined Dewey Pegno & Kramarsky as an attorney in 2019. Alice began her legal career at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae where she was a commercial litigation associate.
Alice then served as counsel to various financial institutions, performing internal audits and responses on behalf of corporate and financial clients to transnational government actions, including HSR Antitrust Improvement Act filings and Securities Exchange Act-related subpoenas.
Alice is also the founder and former Executive Director of a Wikimedia Foundation-funded global initiative to produce multilingual tutorials and editathons targeting Wikipedia editors from underrepresented backgrounds, and has served on the board of Wikimedia NYC and the greater New York area chapter of Wikipedia editors.
She is a Dean’s List graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University and of New York University School of Law, where she was an editor of the Review of Law & Social Change.
Alice is fluent in French.
